Adire is inextricably connected to the economic and social fabrics of the Yoruba people. Tie and dye is mainly called Adire in Nigeria.

To the Africans tie and dye is an identity in that it is one major way via which our culture is exposed to the world especially when the motif are gotten from within(locally).
