Experience Vs Reality Cont......Part 2

Annabella a girl from a very noble and well known family was her classmate with their seats side by side. She was a direct opposite of Christy in character, Very friendly, extroverted and forward young girl.

She was older than Christy anyway. Christy didn't like her because Bella, as she was fondly called wanted to know everything about her. She liked Christy a lot for her intelligence and discipline and it was rare to see students who possess these qualities combined with beauty. But she was too reserved and always to her self, never minding anybody. Bella wondered why.

On the first Saturday of their resumption week, duties was given to each boarder raging from toilet cleaning to sweeping, to scrubbing the lobby and to assisting the school cooks in the kitchen. This was to teach the students the act of responsibility, hard work and cleanliness. They were divided into groups to be maintained throughout the session under the supervision of a senior prefect in SS3. They had to respect and obey whoever was their supervisor. This wasn't new to Christy as she had imbibed these from home.

Adesola(Sola), Oghenerukewve (Rukky), Osose, Rahamat, Lillian(Lilly),Uyiosa(Uyi) and Bella were her group members. They were all from different tribes and States and since it was a big unity school, it accommodated students from within and outside the country. Christy was very uncomfortable with Bella being in her group but there was nothing she could do about it. Meanwhile, Bella was so excited that she could finally be close to Christy. Her group was to assist the school cooks in the kitchen and this was going to be fun for Christy except for Bella who was allergic to smoke. Their duty started very early that morning as breakfast had to be served before 10am.

Christy went about her duty without complain and this earned her love from the cooks and the senior prefect unlike the other students who complained a lot and were very lazy towards their duty. Christy, helped out in any way she could. This made other team members envious of her except for Bella who was willing to learn as she didn't get such opportunity at home because her parents could afford to hire a cook and house keepers who did everything for her. Unlike Christy, it was the duty of everyone in the home to the care of chores.

Bella's allergy for smoke drew Christy's compassion which made her help her out when needed. Bella sneezed continuously and cried whenever the smoke got to her. With time, Bella and Christy became good friends though she still withheld some information about herself and her family background. But Bella was just satisfied that they were finally getting close. Little by little, she found interest in Bella. Bella was also as intelligent as Christy so much so that their classmate predicted that the first position will be given to both of them. Christy also got to know that Bella was widely traveled both within and outside the country. Her mother owned one of the biggest travel and logistic company in the country so that paved way for the opportunities she got to travel out of the country for holidays even though her Dad could also afford it. She also learnt that Bella was the daughter of a well known man who she had seen on Television and her father often talked about yet she was very humble and never acted as one from such a background. Bella also knew a lot about technology as she had developed interest in it because her father owned an IT and an automobile company. She also had a vast knowledge of happening around the world and the latest in technology. Christy decided to drink from the well of knowledge Bella had acquired as she was very inquisitive and never had the opportunity to travel that wide in her life. Bella's parents started very small and in fact were very poor until an opportunity from her father's old friend gave them an upgrade to the elite.

Physics and Chemistry was a hard nut for the SS1 students to crack but Christy, Bella and a few other students stood out. Bella and Osose found it very easy to chew as their parents were scientists and they had been familiar with the subject before they got into senior secondary school. Christy and a few humble students quickly leveraged on the opportunity to improve on their science subject from them. Christy wanted to be Pharmacist so she knew the importance of working hard in all her science subjects . All their science teachers seemed to be very hard and impatient with them. They gave them assignments that were not easy to solve/answer. Sometimes, they had to skip lunch and stay back in class to do some difficult assignments together. This necessitated a reading group. At this point, Christy couldn't avoid having friends because she didn't seem to catch some subjects easily so she needed the assistance of some of her reading group mates to do well in their exams which was fast approaching. She did well in their first test but she needed to do better.

But how far do you think their friendship can carry them?
