EXPERIENCE Vs REALITY
Christy, a very beautiful, bright, brilliant, well Cultured,
hardworking but very timid young girl who grew up looking up to her parents for
everything and anything. Her immediate family literally was her whole world.
As obedient as she was, she wouldn't do anything without the
consent or approval of her mother who loved her so much for her persistence in
doing the right thing always. But she wasn't allowed to mingle with her peers for
fear of being badly influenced not knowing the advantages there is in allowing
Christy have a few friends though under parental guidance.
This promising young Lady lived her life with the strong mindset
of being independent of anyone apart from her parents which was a partial truth
told her. She didn't make friends whether male or female because she just assumed
that they could get her into some sort of trouble.
The source of this unhealthy
thought/ ideology was a story her father told her while she was in primary
school. Mr Albert her father was a victim of betrayal and an unfortunate incident
which left him an orphan as a youth. He had so many relatives leaving with his
parents and it was a very big house that Catered for the needs of all. His
parents were also very lenient with them so much so that they allowed friends
come around to visit irrespective of their Sex and background. Some even stayed
over for holidays if they so desired and of cause with the permission of their wards. He gradually mingled with the wrong set of friends which landed
him in trouble on a long run.
Those set of friends were involved in a fraudulent act which got young Mr Albert caught in the police net along with his friends. The report reached his parents and it sure shattered their hearts. They were also faced with the responsibility of bailing out their son from the police net so as to prevent him from being sent to jail. But the amount required for the release of their son coupled with the allegations leveled against him further destabilized his parents.

Young Albert's dad
became very ill as a result of his inability to raise enough money for his son's
release. Weeks went by, month went by and still no head way. His father died on
his way from his friend's office who was gracious enough to give him the
balance of what was needed for Albert's release. It was indeed a big blow on the
entire family especially to his mom who was everything to his dear father.
He was eventually released but his mother couldn't take the
reality and pain of her husband's demise. She died of stroke a year later after
all efforts failed medically to take care of her. This left Albert an orphan.
He never stopped blaming himself for all that had befallen his family. So he
and his two elder ones were left alone at the mercy of their old grandmother
who struggled to take care of them. He couldn't attain the academic height he
desired, making him a drop out despite his intelligence. He then vowed never to
keep friends ever in his life as result of that unfortunate incidence with his friends.
He passed on this story to his children, warning against
keeping friends.
What happens next? Can
anyone predict?
