This Evil called Rape

Rape simply put means to forcefully have sexual intercourse with either a male or a female. It is also to over power and utter defeat of a person to have sexual intercourse with them (either male or female) without their consent.
Now, from my definition, some may query why I include the male gender in my definition of rape. Rape can be done to either male or female. I have had the opportunity to meet people who were victims of rape in primary, secondary  and university stage. One of them who experienced it while in primary school said he was raped by more than two ladies on his way from the library in his school. They were quite older than him and even though they were caught, the damage had already been done. It was a horrible experience that can never forget no matter how hard h tries to forget. This is why it won't be fair for us to narrow it to just females alone.

During sex, the woman must be adequately lubricated for easy penetration but when this is not achieved, it makes sex really painful. So imagine been brutally beaten and penetrated forcefully ( for the female) maybe by more than one person at the same time? Its a terrible experience!!

Haven said that, it has long been established by the law that rape is a criminal offense and it should be discouraged in every way. In my opinion, those who perpetrate this act should be jailed for life. Rape seeks to destroy its victims and leave them with scares that will never be healed. The trauma rape victims go through can not be described in words.
This is why I stated clearly in one of my posts (why teens fall preys to sexual acts) https://dxpertstracts.blogspot.com/2019/01/why-teens-fall-prey-to-sexual-acts.htmlthat the role of a family in upbringing can not be overemphasized. The only way to avert this is by properly bringing up children to be good ambassadors of that home. The menaces of rape and other vices apparent in the world today is as a result of parents who neglected their responsibilities to chase shadows. This is so sad as the impact of this negligence on the part of parents/guardian on any society can not be quantified.

Rape is evil, rape is a demon and its never a good experience especially to tender and innocent children. Each time I hear or read cases of child rape and what is eventually done to the perpetrator, it reaps my heart into pieces.
In my opinion, the law enforcement agency is not doing enough to punish this inhumans and demon in human clothing who perpetuate this act. How can a child of 3-10 years deal with this ever? The experience, the trauma, the pictures that will ever flash and the pain? How can they ever deal?
Worse  still, an average  parent could be very difficult to confide in or approach in issues like this. Like I said in one of my post, parents should be a sure ear for a child to talk to about anything and a ready support and shoulder to cry on without an iota of fear or shame.

Dear parents, even if your son or daughter has sex, he/she should be free enough to come to you and confess that knowing that you will still love, handle the issue well and correct them in love.
Every child was sent through you and not to you, so keep them and care for them. Let them be your utmost priority not your career, business or other concerns. A child you don't properly bring up/nurture will destroy all you think you have acquired for years and bring nothing but shame.
Educate every child (parents, teachers) on how to stay safe from rape or sexual harassment. Don't leave any stone unturned in properly teaching your girl child especially what not to take for granted from any male ( big brothers, family members, teachers, etc). Teach your boy child to control his feelings and keep his sexual desires under subjection. Self control is one of the many reasons those who rape indulge in it.
Rape is evil and it should not be allowed to blossom in any country!

  2. This is a very nice write up, but I think the definition of rape here isn't broad enough. There is an updated definition which is:
“The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”
the new definition includes any gender of victim and perpetrator, not just women being raped by men. It also recognizes that rape with an object can be as traumatic as penile/vaginal rape. This definition also includes instances in which the victim is unable to give consent because of temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity. Furthermore, because many rapes are facilitated by drugs or alcohol, the new definition recognizes that a victim can be incapacitated and thus unable to consent because of ingestion of drugs or alcohol. Similarly, a victim may be legally incapable of consent because of age. The ability of the victim to give consent must be determined in accordance with individual state statutes. Physical resistance is not required on the part of the victim to demonstrate lack of consent. (copied).
It is also interesting to know that if a person (in Nigeria for eg) under 18 has sex with an older person (above 18), it can also be seen as a case of rape because the person below 18 is unable to give consent according to law. Thus, sex with an underage person is considered as rape for this reason whether the person was forced to have sex or even wanted it. Rape does not necessarily have to be forceful to be seen as 'rape'.
