WHAT IS THE BUSINESS ASPECT OF MY PROFESSION?

I have always been of the strong opinion that those who stay strictly on what they studied in school are the poorest on earth. By this I mean, living on and relying on your academic qualification or a salary job can limit you forever.

I grew up in a home where my Dad was a civil servant and my Mom a business woman. Life was not so smooth but I can remember that we didn't lack anything as children. My Dad later dived into business just to get an extra source of income as responsibilities grew. This made me fully understand the importance of living outside the confides of just one stream of income.

Now, a young man goes through a medical school for example, graduates and he is believed to be an accomplished person. His family looks up to and expects him to meet their needs at a single call. But in some parts of the world, Doctors are under paid compared to the volume of work demand on them. What they go home with at the end of the month is so little that most Doctors can't pay their bill or give their families the best. This is a very sad situation because, though I am not a Doctor, I know friends who are and know what they go through. They practically don't have enough time for themselves yet they are treated by both the government and private employers as trash. I use the word 'trash' because, if they are valued for the services they render, they would be better taken care of in terms of payment.
This is not just peculiar to Doctors alone but to Nurses, Lawyers, Engineers, accountants, civil servants and graduate employees generally.

So how do we combat these excess exploration of graduates by employers?
Apart from going professional with your educational skills, why not explore the business aspect of that course of study( .https://dxpertstracts.blogspot.com/2019/05/tie-and-dye-is-hand-method-of-producing.html). Check this article for info.
Do you know that, those who are successful and marked as rich/wealthy today are those who are business minded/entrepreneurs?

Recently, I came across an analysis of the ranking of profiting ventures and do you know that no profession with titles (Dr,Engr,Barr) topped this list? Yeah! The top ranking are,
the information Technology (IT),
Fashion and design,
content writing,
social media marketing,
 blogging and videos,
Architecture,
Automobiles,
real estate etc.

I wondered why all these and not other admirable professions that we were told of in our primary and secondary school days.
Now, you have passion for medicine, Law, Engineering and other professions that have titles, fine! Why not focus on the business aspect of it? It will profit you more to add it. The business aspect could be by simplifying research on a topic that pulls weight in the world today or creating a website that hosts these research work. A lot of people now maximize the information on google and other search engines.
It could also be, focusing on discovering ways to make processes in your profession simpler. This could make you acquire a skill or developing a software to make processes easier in your field. People go for shortcuts now a days and they would be willing to pay to get it. Things have gone digital now rather than analogue.

You could also do research on ways to make an aspect which is seen as less important in your profession known/recognized. By this I mean, exposing it better to the world.
I am an English graduate for example and whenever I introduce myself as one, people just say" ha! Come and teach us English oh" or " you can be an English teacher right?" But I am a content writer/blogger and so far, its been fulfilling. I am yet to make my first millions but I'm not waiting to be employed to earn that. I have so far written three books waiting for publication. And from my survey, these publications will be bestseller. This is one of the business aspects of my profession. I also intend to partner with authors and book vendors soon because I have strong interest in reading and I know how to present what I read with simplicity and in a way that captures people to read too.

A pharmacist can create a platform where pharmaceutical companies can display their products and offer consultancy services. I have a friend who is currently working on this aspect creatively and this single idea has brought him international investors already. Pharmacy is not just about making, selling and prescribing drug. You can be a researcher or even a content writer in pharmacy. There are a lot of information people search for about this field everyday.

For a lawyer, have you thought of ways to simplify the law to the common man? Have you thought of a platform for consultancy services that opens up opportunities for you? Have you thought of doing a research on unpopular laws and reforms? Have you thought of going into  mentorship? I know quite a number of people who mentor young lawyers, exposing them to opportunities that makes them independent. Others have gone strictly into writing/publications. As I often say, "80% of lawyers are broke they only dress in suit and briefcase to impress". It sounds funny but its the truth. Hundreds leave law school every year with no job. Don't wait to be employed, think of the business aspect of your profession. Learn the act of communication through writing. This is a good way to start as a lawyer.

A friends of mine, who is a graduate of Fine and applied Art is into Tie and dye today and he is an employer of labour. He didn't wait to be employed! This is the business aspect of his course of study. He doesn't just make Adire(a tie and dye fabric) but does creative paintings/designs. I look forward to him opening his gallery that will of global standards.

Whatever you studied or whatever your profession is, can be blown open to the world through the power of social media. No course of study is useless and most of the people who go for professions with big titles are broke! So don't be stuck with just a mere title or degree, make that your course of study glorious, make it enviably profitable!! Business brings financial independence!! Look beyond that degree and think outside the box.
