The effects of choosing the right leaders on families/generations to come.

In one of my post, I did a detailed and precised write up about what we need to know about elections.
I see election as an institution that admits people into leadership positions anywhere in the world. This institution has certain requirements before admission is given but for the purpose and aim of this article, let's focus on the effects of not voting right to families in any country.
When we trace the history of some countries that are underdeveloped today, we would realise that, the causes are a result of wrong choices of leadership.
In another case, most countries that are developed and ahead in technology, civilization and infrastructural facilities got there as a result of careful selection of Leaders into position that have the well-being of citizenry and the growth of such countries at heart.
Such leaders are ready to die for what they believe and for their country. Some were murdered and others imprisoned. Their sole mission was to better the lives of citizens and grow the economy while ensuring that the country is well covered from its enemies.
These kind of leaders make sure they don't disappoint those who have voted them into power. They go all out to defend the people and make life a lot easy for the common man in the country. Hunger, sickness, poor education, lack of social amenities, under development, death etc are companions of  bad leadership/bad government and its impact is more on families.
I can cite so many examples of leaders who truly served the people irrespective of their differences and at the same time kept the country in peace.
A popular African leader I can quickly make reference to is Nelson Mandela. He was an exceptional leader whose heart for the progress and freedom of his people was incomparable. He wasn't afraid to suffer if that's all it took to get victory. He saw the suffering of his people, families being ripped apart by war and killings.
What we all fail to realise is that the aftermath result of our voting choices will directly affect our families. Families and children especially suffer so much from the wrong or biased decision to vote right. We need leaders with good hearts, leaders with integrity, leaders that keep their personal ambition and comfort to please the people they lead.
The great leader Nelson Mandela said in one of his speeches  "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination"."There can be no greater gift than that of giving one's time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return". This is the kind of leader we need in every country.
The bulk of the problem of any country lies in the inability of its citizens to make correct decisions that will also tell on generations yet unborn. We must not let our children and generations yet unborn suffer for our wrong choices. That will be termed injustice to them.
It's painful to see students graduate from the higher institution and they loaf about with no hope of jobs or a means to get life going. Yes, there are people who have created jobs for  themselves. This is because our leaders have failed in their responsibility to cater for the needs of its citizens.
George Washington is one leader Americans will never forget. His impact and contributions to the development of not just his people but the country cannot be over emphasised.
In one of his speeches he stated that “It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn.” He saw beyond the present and projected into the future of his country. He was called the "Father of the Nation". His lasting impact of ensuring the proper education of his citizens and his refusal to go for a third tenure(this gave way to the law of two tenures). He improved the basic aspects of the economy and he was termed a selfless leader.
Generations till now honours him. The memory of great leaders never fades away and generations that read about them get inspired to be great just like them.
When you want to sell your votes or vote as a result of political sentiments, just remember that your daughter, sons, grand children will suffer for as long as such remain in power and you might never forgive yourself for making them go through such when it could have been averted.

  1. The corruption in our country is something else, its just like a cycle, when one's tenure elapsed, he brings in his children and grandchildren to continue.. .To whether you vote or not. . It doesn't matter to them
