Do Africans really love to read books?

A wise man once said that a person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. This is true. Reading is to the brain what food is to the body.  It energises, refills and ultimately gives an upper hand to the smartest person in the room. It is believed that the typical African don't like books. A man once said that the way to hide anything from an African is to put such in a book and he won't get there. This believe saddens my heart because, reading books enlightens and educates whoever, irrespective of status, age and skin colour. If reading has so much advantages and benefits, why then don't we read? Pastor K. Komaiya once said " reading is to the mind, what feeding is to the body. Just as the body need food for growth and physical performance, the mind need knowledge for mental performance. One of the best ways to develop your mind and mental prowess is through reading.
