Wednesday last week, my husband and I went over to my daughter's school to sort out some details with the school administrator. Prior to this time, I had suspected that she (the admin officer) was from my place of origin because I heard her speak my dialect (A dialect is a language spoken by a minority with differences in vocabulary, style, spelling and pronunciation belonging to a community or small group of people). But I wasn't so sure and didn't want to be too forward in asking her. So, while we got talking, along the line, we affirmed that she was from my place of origin. We were both so excited to know that! In excitement she stated her love for couples who speak same language apart from English. As we mark 59 years of independence as a country, what can we sincerely be happy about? I personally have reflected on our present state and national anthem and I feel very sad meditating on the wordings so much so that i don't sing it anymore. This is because, i see my fellow citizens starving in the midst of so much sumptuous meals. With the abundance of mineral resources and wealth God put at our disposal, he expects Nigeria to flourish and live in prosperity. At 59, Nigerians should have unlimited access to the essentials of life. At this age, the average Nigerian can't afford at least a three square meal, quality education for their children, free health care and others. Do you know that, with the abundance of wealth at our disposal, every Nigerian can have luxury, good housing, free meals, education, top notch health care services and excellent infrastructural facilities?
