How I fell in love as a child

Image
Everybody has a love story💕! If you tell me you don't, I will seriously doubt you you sha🙄 abi are you a wood? 😂 I remember back in primary school, I really didn't know what love was. But I knew that I liked this particular dark skin, chubby, rich boy in my class🙈😂 why? He was the smartest and most intelligent in our class. Not just that, he won every inter class competition. E don tey when I get big eye for better thing ohhh😂 He liked to disturb me a lot just so that I will talk.  I was an extremely quiet skinny girl. Some of you may wonder how because I'm really not an introvert now😂things don change na😄 I hardly talked to anyone. I had very few friends in school. I had more Friends in church. You can call me timid or introverted back then😒 I was in my upper primary then I guess I also liked him because he always defended me and helped me out with some subjects I wasn't doing so well with One day, we came to school and I heard some of his friends and classmat...

The life of a decent blogger😞

Image
In this part of the world, bloggers are those who dish out classified or rare information about topics. It could be on the topic of politics, religion, lifestyle, tourism, food, technology, etc. As a blogger, sometimes I wonder how and where these well know bloggers get their information from. Why do I wonder🤔? Because I am a master in minding my business 🤣 I no dey like wahala I beg. So when I see bloggers talk about people, the government and celebrities, I'm like, how do you guys do this? Where do you guys get all these info sha🤦 While you will agree with me that most of those informations are true, some of them are not entirely true when you verify.  Now, why do you think they dig out stories about people? It's simple, to draw the audience to themselves and make some money off them of cause!!! Sadly, upcoming bloggers like us 🤪don't get so much traction because we no dey carry gist 😞😞😞 hmmmmm!!! Is that fair??😞  Okay, let's just say we are not called to ca...

But right now my people ehn, e wan dey be like say e no funny again oh! Ha!!!🥺😟 But for others, nothing really changed ooh! They seriously still work from home. For some people like me e pass work from home sef. Its operation WORK AT HOME and WORK FROM HOME😭. Staying at home is hard work itself!😭😭. As a wife and mother, I have to cook, wash, clean the house almost every other time because my small madam has a degree in scatterology and messiology. Meanwhile, during work day, food is twice a day na, cleaning is maybe twice a week sef, not so many dishes to wash every day but now, house chores are perpetually waiting and smiling at me😭😭 Wait let me gist you! The plight of a Lagos mother: a cry for help!

Image
Since the discovery of COVID-19 VIRUS in Nigeria, life has not been the same for Lagosian especially. The fear of the unknown and the scare from all the cases around the world so far has made people extra careful. Now, the first case was recorded in Lagos and this increased the fear and tension in the hearts of many😥🥶😨 Last week, the Government did good by announcing that schools will be shut down till further notice to keep our young and innocent children safe👶👧🏻🧒🏻👦🏻. Later on, government also instructed that government establishments be shut down. Which is very commendable. I have been home with my daughter since last week. Yes, you can say that we have been in self isolation🤣🤣🤣🤣. Anyhow, we are staying safe while we keep Faith strong💪🏼💪🏼 With little or no statement about private companies and all. This gets me thinking, could it be that The government don't care about the workers in the private sector of our country?🤔😟🙄 Here are my concerns: I kn...

HOW I GOT MY NAME AND WHY I WILL STICK TO IT

For me, a name is spiritual and unique. No two people who bear the same name are the same. Names goes along way to place value and singles one out of a crowd. A name is not just a form of identity, it's a person's story, prophecy being fulfilled or going to be fulfilled or a testimony to the a past event. What people are named varies from person to person, from tribe to tribe and from culture to culture. In this part of the world (Nigeria), names are mostly given based on past experiences, prophecies fulfilled, agony or pain surrounding a birth etc. When parents get a full and proper understanding of the importance of giving positive names to their children, they will apply  wisdom and care in naming. These names follows an individual for life. This is why most people especially Ladies change their names later in life. As soon as they grow up to the realization of the meaning and its effect on their lives, they seek for another more meaningful name to identify with. I must...

I am Yoruba so why must I marry from my tribe?!!

Image
Wednesday last week, my husband and I went over to my daughter's school to sort out some details with the school administrator. Prior to this time, I had suspected that she (the admin officer) was from my place of origin because I heard her speak my dialect (A dialect is a language spoken by a minority with differences in vocabulary, style, spelling and pronunciation belonging to a community or small group of people). But I wasn't so sure and didn't want to be too forward in asking her. So, while we got talking, along the line, we affirmed that she was from my place of origin. We were both so excited to know that! In excitement she stated her love for couples who speak same language apart from English. In her words, "I really love it when husband and wife communicate in the same local dialect instead of English as a result of language barrier". Now, when I was single, I  despised men from my tribe. In fact, I never dated a man from my tribe because I wanted t...

Nigeria @59, should Nigerians celebrate independence day?

Image
As we mark 59 years of independence as a country, what can we sincerely be happy about? I personally have reflected on our present state and national anthem and I feel very sad meditating on the wordings so much so that i don't sing it anymore. This is because, i see my fellow citizens starving in the midst of so much sumptuous meals. With the abundance of mineral resources and wealth God put at our disposal, he expects Nigeria to flourish and live in prosperity. At 59, Nigerians should have unlimited access to the essentials of life. At this age, the average Nigerian can't afford at least a three square meal, quality education for their children, free health care and others. Do you know that, with the abundance of wealth at our disposal, every Nigerian can have luxury, good housing, free meals, education, top notch health care services and excellent infrastructural facilities? At 59, children die of starvation and the crime/rape rate has skyrocketed that it is now ...

WHAT IS THE BUSINESS ASPECT OF MY PROFESSION?

Image
I have always been of the strong opinion that those who stay strictly on what they studied in school are the poorest on earth. By this I mean, living on and relying on your academic qualification or a salary job can limit you forever. I grew up in a home where my Dad was a civil servant and my Mom a business woman. Life was not so smooth but I can remember that we didn't lack anything as children. My Dad later dived into business just to get an extra source of income as responsibilities grew. This made me fully understand the importance of living outside the confides of just one stream of income. Now, a young man goes through a medical school for example, graduates and he is believed to be an accomplished person. His family looks up to and expects him to meet their needs at a single call. But in some parts of the world, Doctors are under paid compared to the volume of work demand on them. What they go home with at the end of the month is so little that most Doctors can't...

THE PAINS DIDN'T DISAPPEAR AFTER DELIVERING MY BABY AS POPULARLY BELIEVED

Image
Look here! And Let me tell you the truth, the first time I set my eyes on my beautiful baby I had just given birth to, my pain did not disappear anywhere!!! 😕In fact, I will tell you exactly what I said, cause I remember that day, like I remember my name. After the nurse put the bundle of joy in my arms, I looked at my newborn baby straight in the eye and said, "My girl, welcome. I'm happy you are here finally but I am very tired right now". Right after that, I dropped my baby down, by the side of the bed and slept off 🤷‍♀️ All ye supermoms whose pain disappeared as soon as you saw the baby, I celebrate you 🙌 All I was busy thinking of, was that episiotomy abi what do they call it ?🙄  I didn't even want anybody to be 100 centimetres near me sef🙅‍♀️ I only took the baby because it was hospital policy. At the time, I needed that sleep more than 'love at first sight'. Anyway, I just thought I'd encourage you who shares the same experience wit...

Why I didn't marry an African man

Image
Marriage is the only institution that brings two different individuals together and they become one not two. It is a sacred union and individuals involved are accountable to God for what they do in it. Like I always say, who one decides to marry can either make you forever or totally disrupt your purpose for the rest of your life except for mercy. This is why it is very important for singles to be careful and patient in choosing who they intend to ride with through out life. Great people have been shut down because they chose the wrong partners. When I hear men boast or pride in " I am an African man", I wonder what exactly they mean. Do they mean that they are just proud of their identity as Blacks or that they are in support of traditions that work against the institution of marriage. Any woman that ends up with men who possess such archaic African mindset is doomed for life. I can proudly and emphatically say that I chose the right man for me who happens not to be ...

Steps to being an amazing in-law

Image
The word in-law is to some a good idea and to others a horrible idea from whoever initiated it. Regardless of what you think about the word ' in-law', my question is, what kind of in-law are you and what kind of in-law would you want to be even as a single or as young man/young woman ? I'm doing a comprehensive book write up about in-laws to show God's original plan for this idea. It is to fuse families, irrespective of background and ethnicity. Now, you have issues with your in-laws? Fine! But what kind are you? For an instance, I have heard wives complain about their mothers in-law which is natural 'cause everybody can't act the same but now that you are a mother, what kind of mother in-laws would you want to be? Loving, peaceful, large hearted, supportive, tolerant  or troublesome, picky, self righteous and controlling? Whenever I remember the law of sowing and reaping, it puts me in check as a woman. I don't want to sow what I won't ...

This Evil called Rape

Image
Rape simply put means to forcefully have sexual intercourse with either a male or a female. It is also to over power and utter defeat of a person to have sexual intercourse with them (either male or female) without their consent. Now, from my definition, some may query why I include the male gender in my definition of rape. Rape can be done to either male or female. I have had the opportunity to meet people who were victims of rape in primary, secondary  and university stage. One of them who experienced it while in primary school said he was raped by more than two ladies on his way from the library in his school. They were quite older than him and even though they were caught, the damage had already been done. It was a horrible experience that can never forget no matter how hard h tries to forget. This is why it won't be fair for us to narrow it to just females alone. During sex, the woman must be adequately lubricated for easy penetration but when this is not achieved, it mak...

Do Africans really love to read books?

Image
A wise man once said that a person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. This is true. Reading is to the brain what food is to the body.  It energises, refills and ultimately gives an upper hand to the smartest person in the room. It is believed that the typical African don't like books. A man once said that the way to hide anything from an African is to put such in a book and he won't get there. This believe saddens my heart because, reading books enlightens and educates whoever, irrespective of status, age and skin colour. If reading has so much advantages and benefits, why then don't we read? Pastor K. Komaiya once said " reading is to the mind, what feeding is to the body. Just as the body need food for growth and physical performance, the mind need knowledge for mental performance. One of the best ways to develop your mind and mental prowess is through reading. Endeavour to be a voracious reader". These words have embedded in...

Let's kick out depression together

Image
I read a touching suicide story just before midnight last night and i was moved to write this piece😔 People who commit suicide see it as a way of escape from all their troubles and frustration. Don't be moved by societal/peer pressure because you have to be your own happiness. Don't allow anyone put you under unnecessary pressure or anger you so much that you lose it. React and let it slide! Most people who take pictures of a  luxurious life fake it. They take pictures in a friend's big office, big car, borrow a bag and clothes just to make you feel less of your self. Well, others don't actually fake it but they want to make you feel they have arrived while you still have a long list of struggles. Such folks have no business being your friends on social media. Remove them if necessary and if what you see puts bad ideas into your head. Do anything to retain your peace while you remain focused and trust the ever faithful God for the benefits that comes with hard w...

Tie and dye is a hand method of producing intricate pattern and designs in textile by tying portions of the fabric or yarn to resist dying the whole area of the fabric. Haven defined tie and dye, it is important to know that this aspect of fashion is a fast growing trend now. A lot of foreigners are interested in this particular fabric as a result of its glamour and uniqueness. Like every patterned and fashioned clothes around the globe, so is Tie and Dye. But Tie and Dye is not just a cloth but a designed culture and style that attract people’s attention anywhere it is seen or found. It has this distinct uniqueness that differentiates it from other fashioned cloth in the fashion world today, especially to the Africans. As culture is a way of life of people so is the art of Tie and Dye.  It is very unlike any other fabric that can be purchased in boutiques. It is affordable and durable too. It’s a cloth that when made into any design signifies something unique, especial...

The Fight between Chelsea and Manchester United

Image
It's no news that football or soccer is a universally accepted game that brings people irrespective of their ethnicity together. The passion football lovers exhibit at the sight of the game tell me that, whenever passion is present, anything is possible. Back in my university days, my younger sister who loved football(still does till date) could sacrifice her last penny to go watch football. She is a strong Man Utd fan. Many times, she came back really exited about the outcome, other times so sad that everybody around could just tell that something was wrong. That is passion! There were times when she went as far as watching it on credit, with the intention to pay later. She may even look for who will pay for her. Her love for it was so strong that it got to a point where they allowed her watch for free. The owners of the view center had never seen a girl with so much love and passion for football like her. Chelsea and Manchester Utd are two club that I know have this ...
